Working in Edinburgh

This will be a very busy week for me. I'm spending lots of time in the NMS offsite collection store facility and looking at specific subsets of the blocks, namely engraved maps, because they are a good sample to start with since they are easy to locate in different drawers that are not catalogued. As a category in my content analysis of the wood engraved elements, maps jumped up more than 50% from the first edition. One of the things I'll be looking at is whether they were made as singular blocks, or if they were smaller blocks that are joined. I'm hoping this sampling exercise will go well because it will basically be my template for later work on the larger subject categories.
The next two photos show my allocated workspace next to the collections.

The objects of my study below. These ones are laid out to go in the permanent Science and Technology Galleries that will open in 2016.
